Why Two Petals

Your Family Is in
Good Hands

Built on expertise. Driven by heart. Here's what sets us apart.

BCBA-Owned & Led

Every treatment plan is designed and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst — grounded in peer-reviewed research and real-world expertise. Not a franchise. Not a corporate chain. Just real, evidence-based care.

Child-Centered

Every child is unique. We tailor our approach to individual strengths, interests, and pace — because one-size-fits-all doesn't fit anyone.

Family-Focused

We partner with families through training, progress updates, and open communication — so growth continues long after each session ends.

Goal-Driven & Measurable

We track data every session, share clear progress reports, and adjust the plan as your child grows. You'll never wonder if therapy is working — you'll see it.

Common Questions

Questions Parents Ask Us

What ages do you serve?+

We provide ABA therapy for children ages 2 through 18. Early intervention is ideal — research shows that starting between ages 2 and 6 often leads to the most significant gains in communication, social skills, and independence. That said, children and teens at any age can make meaningful progress with the right support. During your initial consultation, our BCBA will help determine the best approach for your child’s age and developmental stage.

How long does each session last?+

Session length depends on your child’s unique needs and goals, and typically ranges from 2 to 4 hours. Some children benefit from shorter, more frequent sessions, while others do best with longer blocks. Your BCBA will recommend a schedule during the assessment process and adjust it over time as your child progresses. We always work with families to find a schedule that fits your routine.

Do you accept my insurance?+

We accept most major insurance plans. Our team is actively establishing partnerships with leading carriers. Our team handles the insurance verification and authorization process for you, so you can focus on your child instead of paperwork. If you’re unsure whether your plan covers ABA therapy, just give us a call — we’ll check your benefits and walk you through your coverage options before you commit to anything.

Can I stay and watch sessions?+

For the best outcomes, we ask that parents are not present during therapy sessions. Children tend to respond and engage more naturally with their therapist when parents step out — it helps them build independence and stay focused on their goals. That said, you’re never out of the loop. We provide regular progress updates, share session notes, and offer structured parent training so you can confidently reinforce skills at home. You’re still an essential part of your child’s team — just from the other side of the door.

My child was just diagnosed — where do I start?+

First, take a deep breath — you’re already doing the right thing by exploring options for your child. A new diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it all out at once. Start by reaching out to us for a consultation. We’ll explain what ABA therapy is, answer all your questions, help you understand your insurance coverage, and guide you through every step. There’s absolutely no pressure — we’re here whenever you’re ready.

How will I know if therapy is working?+

Great question — and one we love answering. Every session, our therapists collect detailed data on your child’s progress toward their specific goals. Your BCBA reviews this data regularly and provides you with clear, easy-to-understand progress reports. You’ll also have regular check-ins where we discuss what’s working, celebrate wins, and adjust the treatment plan as needed. Our goal is for you to always feel informed and confident in your child’s growth.

Insurance Questions

Insurance FAQs

Does my insurance cover ABA therapy?+

In Michigan, ABA therapy is a covered benefit under most commercial insurance plans and all Medicaid plans for children with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. Michigan law requires insurance carriers to cover medically necessary ABA therapy for children diagnosed with autism. Contact us and we'll verify your specific plan at no cost.

How do I know which insurance plan I have?+

Look at the front of your insurance card — it will show the carrier name (Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, etc.) and the specific plan type. If you have Medicaid in Michigan, your card may say "Michigan Medicaid" or the name of a managed care plan. Not sure? Just send us a photo of your card and we'll figure it out for you.

What does it cost out-of-pocket?+

It depends on your specific plan. For Medicaid families, ABA therapy is typically covered with little to no out-of-pocket cost. For commercial plans, you may have a copay, coinsurance, or deductible to meet. When we verify your coverage, we'll walk you through the exact financial picture before therapy begins — no surprises.

Do I need a referral or prior authorization?+

Most insurance plans require an autism diagnosis from a qualified provider (developmental pediatrician, psychologist, or psychiatrist) before authorizing ABA therapy. Some plans also require prior authorization or a referral from your child's primary care doctor. We handle all of the authorization paperwork on your behalf once you reach out.

What if my child doesn't have an autism diagnosis yet?+

Insurance coverage for ABA therapy generally requires a formal autism diagnosis. If you're still in the process of getting your child evaluated, reach out anyway — we can point you toward trusted diagnostic providers in Metro Detroit and help you understand next steps. There's no commitment required to start the conversation.

Can my child have both Medicaid and private insurance?+

Yes — this is called dual coverage. In most cases Medicaid acts as secondary insurance after the private plan pays. When we verify your coverage, we'll coordinate both plans on your behalf so you don't have to navigate the billing complexity.

What if my insurance carrier isn't on your list?+

We're actively credentialing with additional carriers in Michigan, so your plan may be added soon. In some cases we can also work with out-of-network plans depending on your benefits. Contact us — we'll let you know your options and walk you through any single-case agreement possibilities.

Ready to Verify Your Coverage?

Reach out today. We'll verify your insurance, answer your questions, and walk you through every step — no paperwork, no pressure, no commitment required.
